We built things to break it
someday. Nothing last forever so is peace. Twenty-three years of peace between
the Nagas and Govt. of India is a long time enough for us to be prepared for
any eventuality. Insincerity of the Government of India in this protracted
dialogue is a clear message that she is preparing for a big war ahead. So then,
do we continue to ignore or overlooked this so called 'peace'?
If Nagas are not prepared for any
eventualities during this peace time, then in the name of peace, our cause will
collapse the day ceasefire is abrogated, unilaterally or bilaterally. If we
think that peace talk is only to resolve the political issues, then we could be
wrong. It is also to prepare for war to come back stronger than ever. During
this peace time, if we stay idle, we'll become weak making us very vulnerable
to our enemies which can also lead to our people to run away from the
battlefield. This peacetime is a test on who we really are. We cannot prepare
for war when the war is on. We surely have no time for it.
If we have faith and stick to our
cause, nobody can bring us to our knees but if we deviate from our goal and
forget our cause to fulfill our personal desires for greed and fame then our
history is finished. Our children will not get to see or read it but become
someone and not Nagas. So, we cannot afford to be a loser whose heart and soul
are blinded. Our cause cannot be abandoned just because of few individuals with
vested interests. Today we are filled with confusion and division because of some
black sheep personal greed and desire.
I've heard some saying not to
ill-talk about the present national workers because if we do so, majority will
leave the movement and the revolution will collapse but that is an excuse too
silly. It is better to have one patriot than to have thousands non-committed
revolutionaries. Our movement will never die until the last patriot is buried
under the earth. Let thousands give up but a new patriot will raise every day.
This is not the time to depend on the number but on our commitment. Keeping a
large non-productive cadres will only demoralize the movement and the cause. It
is time we think of filtering out the non-committed revolutionaries, with a
provision to retire gracefully with honor. This challenging step would
rejuvenate the minds of the serving patriots, boosting their morale. This would
definitely encourage the enthusiastic younger generations to join enmass to
carry forward the baton with full vigour. With the heavy weight of
expectations, mixed with uncertainty and fear from the Naga public, our cause
can turn quickly into a disaster if we leave this serious disease unattended.
It's time we win the hearts of the people.
Treason should not be tolerated at
any cost in any revolutionary movement. If there are no enemy within, the
enemies outside can never hurt us so easily. We cannot allow few drops of
filthy water to pollute the entirety. We cannot afford to betray our
forefathers or our brave martyred Nagas. Whenever we catch a snake, we should
cut off its head and not the tail. We cannot allow the tail to grow longer and
sharpen its teeth. Having soft corner for a traitor is like sharpening the
snake teeth in our garden. Eliminating a traitor within is worth eliminating a
thousand enemies.
The war that we are going to fight
now or ahead will never be the same as we did 23 years ago. The future battles
that we have ahead may not always be physical but can be unseen battles too.
Technology is at its high and our enemies will use this warfare by taking
advantage of it to destroy our morale. So, we also need to invest our time in
preparing and catching up with it. Catching young minds in different fields and
sharing ideas can be effective in dealing with this.
No force on earth can turn us into
slaves unless we allow them to do so. As long as we allow money to seduce us,
there will always be division among us. We have a big war to be fought. While
preparing for the war, if lot of battles are fought within, how are we supposed
to win the war? Are we playing into the hands of our enemies? It is time we
wake up and realize that there is more power in unity than in division. Our
unity is the last and our only weapon left to achieve our goal. If we don't
unite now and fight towards our goal, our cause will collapse, and our future
generations will curse the present generation for selling away our forefathers
dream of a free nation to live as free people.
Who doesn't want peace but if our
rights are threaten, should we stay silent? The dream of our nation building,
our dream to have a nation of our own is not for the weak heart but for those
with the will to struggle for our rights. If we only think of our enemies might
and says we are too weak to achieve our dream, then we've already lost the
battle because our faith in our cause is not strong enough. Rather than filling
our heart with fear seeing the might of our enemies, let us look up to God and
steadfastly hold on to the covenant of our founding leaders.
Theodore Roosevelt once said
"Speak softly and carry a big stick" so in this peace time, let’s
talk, walk and work for peace but not forget to carry the big stick to
safeguard the peace and our cause.
